Sweco has signed an agreement to acquire Fimpec Group

If completed, the acquisition will increase Sweco’s organisation by around 400 employees and strengthen Sweco’s position as an expert in consulting, engineering as well as project and construction management, especially in energy and industry sectors. The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.

Fimpec is an expert in consulting, engineering as well as project and construction management, specialising in the implementation of demanding investment projects from project development to the implementation phase, especially in energy and industry projects. Fimpec’s expertise include projects related to clean energy, hydrogen, bio- and circular economy, forest industry, and batteries and critical minerals. Fimpec employs around 400 experts, most of whom work in Finland, and its turnover in 2024 was EUR 50.5 million. In addition to Finland, Fimpec has offices in Sweden, Germany, and Estonia.

“Fimpec’s strength lies in the implementation of projects related to the energy transition as industry and energy sectors move towards cleaner, more flexible and more cost-effective solutions. Our design services cover all phases from pre-design to implementation. In terms of project and construction management, Fimpec is primarily known for carrying out large industrial investment projects,” says Jukka Nieminen, CEO of Fimpec Group.

“Under the guidance of Helmet Capital, Fimpec has created significant growth, developed interesting capabilities and carried out valuable projects for its clients. Together with Sweco, Fimpec has the opportunity to further develop and grow its business and key areas of expertise as part of a multidisciplinary and stable company,” says Sampo Ahonen, Chairman of the Board, Fimpec Group’s Board of Directors.

“Fimpec’s expertise and services complement Sweco’s offering and, if the transaction is completed, will strengthen our consulting, engineering as well as project and construction management services, especially in energy and industry sectors. Together, we can offer our clients first-class project execution and comprehensive services for the implementation of even the most demanding projects,” says Thomas Hietto, CEO of Sweco Finland.

An agreement has been made between Sweco and Fimpec Group on the acquisition. The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.
